It is with sadness that I inform you of the death of my friend and former colleague at King Charles I Grammar School, Kidderminster, on 9th December 2021.
Alan was formerly a pupil at Sladen Middle School before transferring to the Sixth Form at KCI. After graduating from Imperial College London, he eventually returned to King Charles, taking over as Head of Physics from George Oxendale, who became Deputy Headmaster in 1972. He worked under the headships of Kingsley Raw and Graham Merlane before moving to Wolverley High School when the schools were reorganised in 1977.
Alan was known and highly respected as a thorough and diligent schoolmaster, passionate about his subject, and his former pupils, many of whom went on to higher education, will be saddened by his passing away.
